Back in 1981-Tyler Brown
I would imagine that my day would be started off by an old fashion alarm clock ringing the two bells at the top. After I've been woken up I probably have to go down to the community bathroom, depending on the college dorm I'm residing in since FGCU wasn't around back then. After a brief shower I would probably put on a relatively nice shirt, in today's standards, with some nicer pants and shoes and begin my walk to the classroom. I'd probably go through lecture halls in the basic classes as normal for a college freshman, college algebra, composition 1, maybe a public speaking class, and possibly an economics class. I fell like more degrees back in 1981 were in the business field rather than medical or the arts. After I finish going through those classes I'd probably grab a snack that I could rummage up out of my dorm room, maybe check up with the homework I have to do, and then head of to my minimum wage job a fast food restuarant or maybe a little higher end if I was lucky at a clothing deparment store. I feel like the technology I use today would more than certainly be lacking I would not have my cell phone and be texting my girlfriend and friends all day, and wouldn't have a laptop for school work and various other distractions. I feel like life would be a lot similar in the technological aspect and more in depth friendships around the dorms there at school.

Tyler Brown-Food Ads
What seems to be the most effective advertising in today’s society has nothing to do with the actual food that’s being presented but more revolving around what they use to grab the customers attention: a song, a celebrity, a catch phrase, or just plain being loud and obnoxious, anything to make you look over at your television and see their product. After they have your attention they have to tell you why their product is the greatest thing in the world and that it’s all natural and will help your figure and image, which is usually total crap. I’m generally not swayed myself on any opinion of food by the celebrity they use to promote it I’m more about living healthy and that aspect of food so though I may buy name brands if I can find generic brands that taste just as good and are still good for you then there is really no reason not to get it.
Here in my opinion is the perfect example of false advertisement. To begin with Red Bull as well as all other energy drinks filled with sugar and caffeine and other “natural” ingredients that will “give you wings” or whatever other stupid slogan the company comes up with, is awful for you to even be drinking in the first place. They glorify their product in this example commercial above by using an extreme sports athlete Travis Rice who eludes in the commercial that if you drink Red Bull than your world too can be just like his. Almost all food companies use this advertising strategy by saying their product is healthy or their product will make you better in some way, shape or form. I’m sorry but I can drink all the Red Bull I want am I going to grow wings and fly away? No I’m not, false advertisement right there all I’m going to do is make myself jittery and wide away for a few hours until I’m ready to crash or drink more of there product which if you drink too much of their product it can endanger your health. So overall I feel that food companies should be giving guidelines on how much the can embellish on how great their product is, I know they are just trying to sell it and do their jobs but misleading the American public and turning our society into what it is now where obesity is a very prevalent problem should not be acceptable in my opinion.

Comp 1 About Me: Tyler Brown
Hey there, my name is Tyler Brown. I was originally born in Fort Wayne, Indiana but in 4th grade moved down here to Land O’ Lakes, Florida. I attended Land O Lakes High School and now I’m a freshman here at FGCU. I use to volunteer as an escort at St. Joseph’s Hospital before moving down here which helped a lot to get use to the hospital setting because I am an Athletic Training major and plan on moving on to become a Physical Therapist. When I first meet people I’m generally pretty shy until you get to know me better. I’ve been playing soccer practically my entire life, since I was around 5. I’ve made many of my friends through that such as the group in the picture below which was my senior year of high school.
I also played for a competitive team, Fusion Futbol Club of Tampa Bay. I am a goal keeper and I actually came here to FGCU with hopes of continuing my soccer career. I have one sibling a little brother, Logan who I play soccer with as well and he’s honestly the best brother I could have ever wanted.
Also something I consider very unique that I had the opportunity to achieve was to make my way through a field of 800 competitors down to the last 20 where I was invited to go to Lake Placid, New York where I was part of the U.S. Luge Olympic Development Team. I stayed at the Olympic Training Center there for a week in 8th grade but unfortunately my time was too slow to make the official team but just tenths of a second. Last but certainly not least is someone who is very important to me and that would be my girlfriend Dana Seedaire, she has been a very big part of my life for 3 years now and I love her very much.
